Change is an uncomfortable place for most people. In most cases, change means stepping out of your comfort zone. The truth is that the world around us is constantly changing. Now you may not want to change the world, only portions of your life.

Have you ever been around someone that is constantly negative? It seems that life is never right for them. They give their energy and focus to all the things they do not want in life. Someone has done them wrong, they are in a bad relationship, they are financially struggling…whatever. The subconscious mind gives them more of what they focus on. More trouble, heartache and difficulties. These types of people are focused on what they do not want. Their conversations usually begin with “I don’t want…….”

Getting Comfortable with Uncomfortable

Ever jump into a semi-cold pool to feel the chill and after a few minutes get so comfortable that you begin to forget about being cold. You begin to enjoy the whole swimming experience and the thought of being cold is no longer in existence. Well, my thought is that you got comfortable with uncomfortable.

I was involved in a discussion with some friends and acquaintances about life choices. One of the individuals there was reporting on how hard life was at the moment for him. He seemed to have a lot stacked against him and shared with the group all of the problems he was facing. The group was very sympathetic and responded by giving this individual some very helpful suggestions on how to improve his circumstances. It seemed to me that every suggestion was shot down by an excuse why it could or would not work for him.

This has been a very telling quote in my life. As I grow and gain new experiences, I always try to have this particular line in the back of my mind.

My interpretation of this quote:

"Live as if you were to die tomorrow."
I can't live my life doing things that make me unhappy. Ultimately I want to be working toward the betterment of my life, and those that I care about. If I died tomorrow I want to have as few regrets as I can.

"Learn as if you were to live forever."
